About the 2016 Festival

What Is FRiFF?

The Flying Robot international Film Festival is the world's premier open competitive film festival focused on aerial cinema created from the perspective of drones.

Submissions for the 2017 festival will open in June 2017. Festival participation is open to anyone around the globe with an Internet connection. Entry fees are low.

The world premiere of the 2nd annual 2016 Flying Robot international Film Festival took place November 17, 2016 at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco.

In 2016, FRiFF attracted 180 submissions spanning 40 countries across 8 categories. 25 final selections, as determined by the FRiFF jury, were screened on November 19th, 2016 at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco.

Our panel of esteemed judges from the worlds of aerial cinema, feature filmmaking, robotics, artificial intelligence, media, and drone sports will critically assess this year's submitted films across eight categories: Cinematic Narrative, Epic Landscape, Drones for Good, FPV/Aerial Sports, WTF LOL, Promotional, I Made That! and Student Films. Best of Show and People's Choice awards will also be chosen.

Final selected films were screened November 17, 2016 in San Francisco. A short awards ceremony followed announcing winners in each of the 8 categories, as well as "Best of Show" winner. The "Audience Choice" award was voted for on Twitter and announced the next day.
