About the Festival

What Is FRiFF?

The Flying Robot international Film Festival is the world's premiere international competitive short film festival focused on drone culture and aerial cinema created from the perspective of drones.

The FRiFF2017 program is comprised of 25 short drone films representing a dozen countries across these 7 genre categories.

Best Of and Runner Up selections were awarded for each category, as determined by the FRiFF Jury. Best of Show and Audience Choice selections were also awarded. You can find the complete list of winners here.

The FRiFF2017 program was screened at the 2017 premiere in San Francisco on November 16th at the Roxie Theater.

The 2017 FRiFF Jury hails from the worlds of aerial cinema, FPV drone racing, feature filmmaking, robotics, artificial intelligence, manufacturing and media. They will critically assess this year's submitted films.

FRiFF was founded by Eddie Codel, a San Francisco based live video producer, aerial filmmaker and drone nerd.

Judges

FRiFF Jury

The Flying Robot jury will critically assess your creative submissions. Qualities that judges look for include: a good story, composition, visually epic footage, uniqueness and a sense of whimsy.

Judges will make final selections for the 2017 program after the close of the submissions period. Filmmakers will be notified shortly thereafter.

The world premiere of the 3rd annual Flying Robot international Film Festival took place on November 16, 2017 at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco.

A short awards ceremony recognizing winning selections took place immediately following the screening, hosted by the Internet's own Justin Hall.
